Ireland & the Catholic Vote

BBC News - Why are US presidents so keen to be Irish?

No surprises: the Irish catholic vote. But it is quite remarkable that a visit to ireland can have such a 'swing' effect on a country which has a population 70-fold greater.

What is even more interesting, is the attitude of the (real) Irish to America & Americans have changed since JFK set foot on the oul' sod half a century ago. Once we were in awe of them - how many houses had a picture of the 'Sacred Heart' on one side of their 'sitting room' and a picture of JFK on the other side.

Didnt see too many images of Ronney going up, after his pint of Smithwicks
